Experience Uganda through its wildlife

Uganda is home to more than half the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas

Known as the Pearl of Africa, Uganda is located in East Africa and offers some of the continent’s most diverse wildlife viewing, dramatic landscapes, and immersive cultural experiences. Uganda is home to more than half the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas, and trekking to observe these gentle giants in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the world’s top bucket list travel activities.

Safari opportunities abound in savanna, forest, and wetland settings throughout 10 national parks, where visitors can come face to face with The Big Five – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo – as well as giraffe, zebra, chimpanzee, hippopotamus, crocodile, and more than half of all bird species found in Africa.

Among Uganda’s extraordinary natural attractions are the snow-capped Ruwenzori Mountains; expansive Lake Victoria, which forms the source of the Nile River; and Murchison Falls National Park. Direct air service from the Middle East to Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport is available on carriers including Emirates, Fly Dubai and Qatar Airways.

Uganda Tourism Board has officially launched the “Experience Uganda – First!” campaign, in what is the first time for Uganda to create and promote a travel package exclusively created for locals and residents of the Gulf Countries. The campaign, which offers selected GCC travel agencies unique travel holiday packages based on a number of themes along with complimentary airport transfers for their clients, was launched in October this year.

The campaign promotes Destination Uganda – known also as the pearl of Africa – as a premier adventure and nature holiday destination for families, groups, couples and young adults, seeking travel experiences that create memories savoured by visitors for a lifetime.

Being home to the highest concentration of primates and birds in Africa, the special promotional holiday packages include guided safaris, River Nile boating excursions, unique mountain gorilla treks, wild chimpanzee encounters and pampering at luxury lodges and resorts.
