Korea’s tourism balance recorded a $596.6 million surplus in June 2026, its highest since the Covid-19 pandemic and second highest since October 2008, according to the Korea Tourism Organisation. The result marked a significant turnaround from the $846.8 million deficit
recorded in June 2025. Korea’s tourism balance had remained in deficit for 72 consecutive months from March 2020 before returning to surplus in March 2026, with the positive trend continuing through June.
Tourism revenue reached $2.78 billion during the month, supported by spending from international visitors. Foreign tourists spent an average of $1,397 per person, contributing to the improvement in the country’s tourism balance and highlighting the continued recovery of Korea’s inbound tourism sector.
