The TUI Care Foundation, in partnership with development agency Target 8.9, has launched TUI Futureshapers Cambodia to strengthen the resilience, competitiveness and sustainability of Cambodia’s tourism sector, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises.
Implemented with the
German Development Agency, GIZ, the programme will support at least 80 tourism
SMEs in destinations including Siem Reap through digital and sustainability
assessments, while more than 160 entrepreneurs will participate in workshops covering
digital marketing, search engine optimisation and sustainable tourism
certification.
A further 15
high-potential businesses will receive individual mentoring in financial
planning and business valuation, with at least five targeted to secure external
funding through impact investment or blended finance.
The programme will
also train at least 100 young people through sustainable tourism bootcamps and
community events, encouraging eco-friendly tourism and promoting destinations
beyond Angkor Wat.
The initiative forms
part of the global TUI Futureshapers programme supporting youth
entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism development worldwide. -TTN
