Dubai Safari Park has welcomed the birth of its second endangered southern white rhino calf, named Salam, born on March 1, 2026. The male calf, weighing 73.5 kg at birth, is healthy and under the care of his mother and expert zoologists. This marks the park’s second successful birth under its breeding programme, following Onyx in 2024. Classified as Near Threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the species has around 15,700 individuals remaining in the wild. The birth highlights the park’s ongoing commitment to conservation and endangered species protection.
