Algeria moves to cancel air services agreement with UAE

Algeria has initiated the necessary procedures for the termination of the air services agreement between Algeria and the United Arab Emirates, an Algerian News Agency report said.

The agreements were signed in May 2013 and ratified by Presidential Decree in December 2014.

Under the provisions of Article 22 of the aforementioned agreement, the denunciation must be notified through diplomatic channels to the Emirati contracting party, with simultaneous notification to the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the fulfilment of the required formalities with said organisation, the report said.

It gave no immediate reason for the move.
