WTE Miami puts the travel advisor at the centre of 2026 show

The evolving role of the travel agent will take centre stage this autumn as WTE Miami 2026 structures its entire executive lineup around the theme, Travel Advisor of the Future. Taking place from October 27–28 at the Miami Beach Convention Centre, the event aims to equip frontline travel professionals with tangible strategies to handle rapid technological shifts, emerging distribution models, and changing consumer expectations.

The focus on professional development comes at a critical juncture for the trade. “The travel industry is entering one of the most significant periods of transformation in its history,” said Simon Press, Managing Director International for Fairfest Inc. “Artificial intelligence is changing how travellers discover and book destinations. Consumer expectations continue to evolve, new distribution channels are emerging, and competition for the American traveller has never been greater.”

To directly address these disruptions, the WTE conference programme is being developed in close collaboration with premier trade organisations, including Host Agency Reviews (HAR), the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), and the African Travel Association (ATA).

The resulting curriculum will feature more than 100 speakers across 20-plus sessions, diving deep into practical advisor education. Panels and presentations will analyse how AI is transforming customer engagement, offer fresh intelligence on outbound travel trends, and provide insights into social media and creator-led destination discovery.

Beyond the classroom, the event serves as a high-yield global marketplace designed to connect international suppliers with major North American buyers. Expected to double in size and impact following its acquisition by Fairfest Media earlier this year, the exhibition will bring together over 500 exhibitors, 7,000 buyers, and the largest gathering of National Tourism Organisations at any travel trade show in the Americas.

The show’s dedicated buyer programme is structured to facilitate over 10,000 pre-scheduled and on-the-spot meetings. This layout will connect international destinations, airlines, and hotel groups directly with the US travel ecosystem, ranging from independent agencies and home-based travel advisors to host agencies and major consortia teams.

Backed by local powerhouses Miami International Airport (MIA) and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), the event has already confirmed a robust lineup of global participants. Confirmed brands include the Jamaica Tourist Board, South African Tourism, Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, Maldives Mission to the United Nations, Royal Jordanian, Iberia, Marriott International, Hyatt Hotels, and TBO.com.

Formal professional admission paths have officially opened for travel trade members and qualified buyers looking to align their businesses with the future of travel distribution.
