Bahrain targets GCC families with tourism push

A new promotional campaign has been launched inviting GCC visitors to experience a vibrant season of entertainment, culture and family attractions across Bahrain.

The initiative by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) aims to reinforce the kingdom’s position as a preferred regional tourism destination by showcasing a packed calendar of events and experiences taking place nationwide, reported our sister publication GDN.

The promotion coincides with a diverse line-up of live concerts and theatrical productions hosted in collaboration with the Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre, alongside festivals and entertainment activations including the third edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival at Exhibition World Bahrain.

Visitors are also being encouraged to explore family attractions, sports events and shopping festivals across major malls and tourist centres, creating what organisers describe as a well-rounded tourism experience that combines entertainment, culture and retail in a single destination.

BTEA chief executive officer Sara Buhiji said the campaign reflects ongoing efforts to position Bahrain as an ideal choice for GCC families seeking short breaks and weekend getaways.

“This initiative reflects the BTEA’s continued efforts to strengthen Bahrain’s position as a preferred destination for GCC families and other visitors by offering a unique tourism experience that brings together entertainment, culture, sports, shopping, dining and family activities,” she said.

“It showcases the kingdom as a destination that is easy to reach and rich in experiences, making it an ideal choice for weekend getaways and short holidays.”

Buhiji added that the programme accompanying the campaign caters to different interests and age groups while highlighting the kingdom’s well-known Gulf hospitality.

“We look forward to welcoming GCC visitors to a vibrant season of events where families and friends can get together in a lively, enjoyable and safe atmosphere, and in a country with an advanced tourism infrastructure that offers visitors a seamless and comfortable experience,” she said.

The campaign will also feature travel packages and hotel offers developed in collaboration with partners from the hospitality and tourism sector, in addition to shopping promotions and varied entertainment options.

Organisers say the added incentives are designed to enhance the visitor experience and appeal to GCC travellers looking for a nearby destination that combines familiarity with fresh and memorable attractions.
