Minor Hotels, a global leader in the hospitality industry, has significantly boosted its presence in the African market by signing a new joint venture agreement with SUNRISE Resorts & Cruises. The ambitious partnership targets the opening and management of up to 50 hotels over the next decade, cementing the commitment of both parties to Egypt’s rapidly growing tourism sector.
The signing ceremony took place with Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathi, underscoring the national importance of the collaboration.
The development pipeline is set to span key urban centres and premier leisure destinations, including West Cairo, Azha Ras El Hekma on the North Coast, and Azha Ain Al Sokhna. As part of the initial agreement, Minor Hotels will commence management of seven projects, encompassing operational hotels, brownfield conversions, and greenfield developments. A key highlight for the luxury segment will be the introduction of Minor Hotels’ flagship luxury brand, Anantara Hotels & Resorts, across several locations in the country.
The partnership will also strategically extend Minor Hotels’ hospitality expertise to Nile cruise operations across Aswan and Luxor. This builds on the success of Minor Hotels’ existing portfolio of Asia-based river cruises, including Mekong Kingdom and Loy Pela, reinforcing Egypt’s appeal as one of the world’s most iconic travel destinations.
This new entity establishes a long-term strategic framework to introduce and expand Minor Hotels’ world-class brands across Egypt’s dynamic and fast-growing tourism sector, providing travel advisors wit pipeline of new inventory to sell.
