KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Gulf Air, the national airline of the Bahrain, signed a codeshare partnership, for travel commencing from October 27, 2019.
The announcement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two airlines and will further strengthen the strong ties between Bahrain and the Netherlands. Gulf Air will place its ‘GF’ code on KLM flights from Bahrain to Amsterdam and flights from Amsterdam to Frankfurt. On the other hand, the agreement will see KLM place its ‘KL’ code on Gulf Air flights from Bahrain to Sialkot, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.
Bruce Dönszelmann, vice-president Alliances KLM, said, “We are pleased to start this new cooperation with Gulf Air, and to strengthen our network in the Middle East, which is a strong market for both business and leisure customers. In Gulf Air, we have found a very reliable partner, with whom we can offer passengers more transfer options and destinations in the Indian subcontinent.”
On the special occasion, Krešimir Kučko, CEO of Gulf Air, said, “KLM is a leading airline with a global footprint and a strong presence in Europe. We are happy to sign with KLM and expand our network with a direct service between the Kingdom of Bahrain and The Netherlands. Now it will be easier for our customers to fly direct to Amsterdam using a Gulf Air ticket. With our strong network in the Indian sub-continent, KLM can now offer more destinations to their passengers through our flights with one stop in our fast and efficient hub, Bahrain International Airport.”
