Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), announced that it is progressing an 11-year extension in relation to Texel Air’s hangar operations at the airport.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum 2026, held in Manama on 1–2 November, reflecting BAC’s continued commitment to supporting the development of aviation businesses in the Kingdom.

The proposed extension would provide a long-term platform for Texel Air to continue developing its operations and investing in its facilities at BIA.

It would further reinforce Bahrain’s position as a key base for the company’s future operations, while supporting the Kingdom’s broader aviation, air cargo and logistics ambitions.

Texel Air is a subsidiary of Chisholm Enterprises, which marks 20 years in the Kingdom in 2026.

Since acquiring its twin-bay hangar facility at BIA in 2025, Texel Air has invested significantly in upgrading the facility’s infrastructure and services, which support aircraft maintenance, cargo operations and private aviation.

Ahmed Janahi, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Airport Company, said: “Long-term partnerships give aviation businesses the confidence to plan, invest and grow. This proposed extension would provide Texel Air, a Bahrain-based operator, with a platform to further develop its operations and serve regional and international customers. Supporting that growth strengthens BIA’s aviation services offering and reflects our commitment to enabling investment and higher-value economic activity in the Kingdom.”

George Chisholm, Chief Executive Officer of Chisholm Enterprises, the parent company of Texel Air, said: “Bahrain has been Texel Air’s home since day one, and this planned 11-year extension is a clear signal of our long-term commitment to the Kingdom. A long-term agreement with BAC gives us the confidence to plan the next phase of investment at BIA, including additional hangar capacity, and to bring more maintenance, charter and cargo activity to Bahrain. We thank Bahrain Airport Company for its partnership and support.” -TradeArabia News Service
