InterContinental Muscat hosted a breast cancer awareness session in collaboration with the Oman Cancer Association (OCA) on 26 October 2026, reinforcing its commitment to colleague wellbeing, community engagement and corporate social responsibility.

Held at the hotel’s Sur meeting venue to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the initiative brought together women employees and members of the hotel’s management team to promote breast health awareness and highlight the importance of early detection.

The session was led by Dr Rajyashree N. Kutty, a specialist surgeon with 25 years of experience in breast diseases, breast care, cancer screening and awareness. Her presentation was followed by a 30-minute interactive discussion, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical insights into breast health and preventive care.

The collaboration reflects a partnership between InterContinental Muscat and the Oman Cancer Association spanning approximately 10 years, built around a shared commitment to health education and community wellbeing.

Sebastian Thomas, general manager of InterContinental Muscat, said the hotel believes hospitality extends beyond guest services to making a positive contribution to the wider community.

He added that the hotel intends to make the awareness session an annual initiative every October, providing colleagues with regular opportunities to learn about breast health and the importance of early detection.

Basim Al Hasani, director of human resources at InterContinental Muscat, said the initiative demonstrated the hotel’s commitment to creating a supportive workplace where employee wellbeing is prioritised and colleagues are empowered with knowledge to make informed decisions about their health.

The session aimed to encourage open conversations about breast health and reinforce the importance of timely medical attention. By providing an opportunity to engage directly with a specialist, the initiative sought to help participants feel more informed and confident about taking proactive steps towards their wellbeing.

The event forms part of InterContinental Muscat’s wider corporate social responsibility programme, which focuses on employee welfare, community partnerships and initiatives that deliver positive social impact.

Through its continued collaboration with the Oman Cancer Association, the hotel aims to support greater health awareness and contribute to a culture of prevention, education and community care. -TradeArabia News Service
