Etihad Engineering has launched Abu Dhabi’s first MRO-led GCAA CAR-147 Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Programme, delivered by Etihad Engineering Technical Training at the company’s aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility adjacent to Zayed International Airport.

The programme expands the company’s training portfolio and creates a new industry-led pathway for aircraft maintenance training in the UAE capital.

Etihad Engineering Technical Training has designed the programme to combine regulatory-approved training, practical skills development and hands-on maintenance experience within a live MRO environment.

Licensed aircraft maintenance instructors deliver the training, providing participants with a structured pathway towards aircraft maintenance certification and future certifying responsibilities.

Daniel Hoffmann, CEO of Etihad Engineering, said: "As global demand for aircraft maintenance expertise continues to grow, the industry needs a strong pipeline of skilled professionals. Our CAR-147 aircraft maintenance engineering programme combines approved technical training with the real-world experience of one of the world's leading independent MRO providers. Supported by more than 2,000 professionals from over 50 nationalities and a technical training facility that delivers more than 600 courses to over 12,000 participants annually, we are creating a learning environment in Abu Dhabi that prepares the next generation of aviation professionals for successful careers in the industry."

The programme bridges the gap between technical training and industry requirements by combining classroom instruction with direct exposure to aircraft maintenance operations.

Participants gain practical insight into the standards, procedures and responsibilities that underpin modern aircraft maintenance while learning within an operational MRO environment.

The programme has taken off with its first intake of Emirati trainees, and future intakes will be open to aspiring aircraft maintenance professionals from across the region and around the world.

The launch adds to Etihad Engineering’s comprehensive technical training capabilities and strengthens Abu Dhabi’s position as a global aviation hub and centre for developing specialised skills. -TradeArabia News Service
