Abu Dhabi marks International Museum Day with expanded cultural showcase and free access to landmark museums

Abu Dhabi is celebrating International Museum Day by highlighting its growing position as a global cultural hub, with a wide network of museums and heritage sites spanning Saadiyat Island, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra regions.

The emirate’s cultural landscape offers experiences across art, science, history, and heritage, anchored by Saadiyat Cultural District, which includes Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, and teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi.

To mark the occasion, Abu Dhabi is offering free entry from 16 to 18 May at Zayed National Museum, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, and Louvre Abu Dhabi, encouraging residents and visitors to explore its cultural institutions.

Zayed National Museum has gained international recognition shortly after opening, including inclusion in TIME Magazine’s “World’s Greatest Places 2026.”

Designed by Lord Norman Foster, it presents over 300,000 years of regional history and honours the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi takes visitors on a 13.8-billion-year journey from the origins of the universe to the present day, featuring major exhibits such as Stan the T. rex and international exhibitions like March of the Triceratops.

Louvre Abu Dhabi continues to showcase 10,000 years of human creativity, with current exhibitions exploring Picasso’s artistic legacy in dialogue with Arab modernists.

teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi offers an immersive digital art experience where light, water, and movement interact dynamically, ensuring no two visits are the same.

Beyond Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s cultural network includes Al Ain Museum, Qasr Al Hosn, Al Maqta’a Museum, and Delma Museum, each reflecting different aspects of the UAE’s history and heritage.

Together, these institutions reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global cultural destination, blending heritage preservation with innovative, future-focused museum experiences. -TradeArabia News Service
