Turkish Airlines and GE Aerospace have announced an agreement to purchase more than 100 GEnx engines to power their recently-signed order for 50 Boeing 787 airplanes, with an option for an additional 25 planes.

The agreement also includes spare engines and a 15-year True Choice services agreement.

This agreement marks a significant milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two companies, supporting Turkish Airlines’ widebody fleet and global growth plan.

Turkish Airlines, the country’s national carrier, operates a young and growing fleet of 504 aircraft, flying to 355 destinations in 131 countries worldwide.

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Ahmet Bolat said, “As Turkish Airlines, we continue to strengthen Türkiye’s pivotal role as a global aviation hub with this agreement which also serves as a significant step for our flag carrier on the road to reaching over 800 aircraft by 2033. We are pleased to continue our relationship with GE Aerospace as we maintain the highest standards of operational excellence and passenger safety.”

Engineered with cutting-edge materials and advanced design techniques, the GEnx represents a significant advancement in propulsion technology.

Since its introduction in 2011, the GEnx engine family has accumulated over 69 million flight hours.

It stands as GE Aerospace’s fastest-selling, high-thrust engine to date, with more than 3,900 engines currently in service and backlog. Like all GE Aerospace engines, the GEnx can operate on approved Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends.

Russell Stokes, President and CEO, Commercial Engines & Services for GE Aerospace said, "GE Aerospace is honored to be a part of Turkish Airlines’ fleet expansion. Powered by our advanced GEnx engine, this agreement underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional efficiency, reliability, and a quieter passenger experience. Together, we are proud to support Turkish Airlines in their mission to connect communities worldwide." -TradeArabia News Service
