Minister of Saudi Arabia Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb has approved new policies and regulations for registering workers and localising activities in licensed tourism facilities across the Kingdom.
This move is a significant step in the
ministry's efforts to enhance employment opportunities for citisens, empower
national cadres in the sector, and improve overall service quality, reported
SPA.
The policies, developed in collaboration with relevant government agencies, aim
to increase citizens' contribution to the tourism sector and provide
stimulating job opportunities, including leadership roles and positions for
recent graduates, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
The new regulations, which cover all activities licensed by the Ministry of
Tourism, impose several obligations on tourism establishments. Facilities must
register all employees within the Ministry of Human Resources and Social
Development's systems before commencing work.
Employee contracts—including contractual, seconded, or seasonal—must be
documented via the Ajeer platform or other approved platforms.
Establishments with multiple licensed branches must register employees
specifically against the facility file linked to each tourism license.
All tourism hospitality facilities are required to have a Saudi receptionist
present during working hours, reinforcing the deeply rooted values of Saudi
hospitality.
Outsourcing or assigning positions subject to Saudisation decisions to entities
or workers outside the Kingdom is prohibited. Such work must be outsourced to
establishments licensed by the Ministry of Tourism or licensed to assign Saudis
by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
The ministry emphasised that compliance with these policies will be strictly
monitored, and penalties will be applied to all violators in cooperation with
relevant government agencies.
