The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Freetour.com have announced a strategic partnership to promote Abu Dhabi as a premier travel destination through accessible and engaging guided tours.

As part of this collaboration, licensed tour guides in Abu Dhabi will receive special benefits and dedicated support from Freetour.com to develop and promote their tours online – giving them access to a global network and helping them create richer experiences for international visitors to the emirate.

Abu Dhabi’s status as the world’s safest city, consistently ranked by the Numbeo Safety Index for the last nine years, makes it the perfect destination for immersive walking tours, allowing visitors to explore with complete peace of mind.

Abdulla Yousuf, Director of International Operations at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “Abu Dhabi is a destination brimming with history and culture, and walking tours offer visitors a way to connect more deeply with Emirati traditions and hospitality. Our strategic partnership with Freetour.com is a step toward making these experiences more accessible to a global audience, by tapping into the platform’s extensive international reach. Most importantly, this collaboration supports our community of licensed tour guides, empowering them to share their deep knowledge and passion with travellers from around the world.”

Freetour.com is a leading online platform connecting travellers with free and budget-friendly tour providers in over 140 countries, and equipping guides with the tools and support to grow their businesses.

Unlike traditional tour platforms, Freetour.com specialises in flexible and affordable experiences, empowering local guides with cost-effective ways to attract bookings.

Ignacio Merino, Head of Business Development at Freetour.com, said: “We’re proud to partner with DCT Abu Dhabi to support local guides and showcase the emirate’s rich culture to the world. This collaboration marks an exciting step in Freetour.com’s global expansion—now present in over 1,100 destinations—and highlights our commitment to connecting international travellers with passionate storytellers everywhere.”

Offering a wider range of tours through more licensed guides not only enriches the visitor experience, leading to longer stays and higher engagement, but also directly fuels Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, with its goal of attracting 39.3 million visitors by the end of the decade.

The partnership with Freetour.com strengthens Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading cultural and historical destination, ensuring that its attractions are accessible to a broader audience. -TradeArabia News Service
