Malaysia’s rainforest canopy pavilion opens

THE Malaysia Pavilion officially opened its doors at Expo 2020 Dubai and invited visitors to experience an immersive journey of Malaysia’s rainforest enabled by 3D projection mapping.

The 1,234.56 square metres net zero carbon installation at the mega event is set to present the country’s sustainable vision through several other creative interactive technologies in seven permanent exhibits over the 26 weeks of the expo.

Delivering his speech to launch the Malaysia Pavilion which marks the country’s 7th participation at the quinquennial event since 1970, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia, The Honourable Dato’ Sri Dr. Adham Baba said:

“Malaysia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai illustrates our commitment to international collaboration, long-standing interest in global conversations, as well as initiating dialogues on common challenges and opportunities on science, technology and innovation (STI). The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has undertaken an integrated approach in converging two major sectors of the country, namely 'STI' and 'Economy' to catalyse the Socio-Economic Transformation and Inclusive Growth.”

Women and their innovative power

THE role of women in Austria’s growth is pretty evident from the EXPO 2020 pavilion.

“Women and their innovative power are sending a strong message at EXPO 2020 in Dubai. It is our goal to inspire more women and girls to take up STEM professions (mathematics, IT, science and technology) and to get them into technical training schemes. Strong female role models show that women can achieve anything, also on an international stage,” says Austria’ Minister of Digital and Economic Affairs Margarete Schramböck.

The 52 companies and research institutes presenting their developments and products in the iLab – the knowledge platform inside the Austria Pavilion – boast strong female participation. Their projects prove that women not only provide a breath of fresh air in research, but above all deliver important input and outstanding results. They make a decisive contribution to advancing innovation in Austria and on the world stage.

Nature and Architecture unite

FROM October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, visitors to the Singapore Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will learn about the nation’s sustainability story through an immersive pavilion journey featuring a digital ecosystem that integrates nature, architecture, art, and technology

Mr. Larry Ng, Commissioner-General of the Singapore Pavilion, explains, “The realisation of the Singapore Pavilion is important for Singapore, as it provides us with the platform to connect with people from around the world and engage in important future-shaping conversations. As visitors experience the Pavilion through its welcoming spaces, digital exhibits, and programmes, we hope that they will gain new perspectives on how nature and technology can be integrated into our urban spaces and see the possibilities of how our cities can be designed to be sustainable, liveable and resilient.”

Echoing the theme of “Nature. Nurture. Future.”, the Singapore Pavilion is an architectural feat – a green, living self-sufficient ecosystem that embodies the nation’s journey towards growth, sustainability and resilience while confronting some of the most complex and challenging urban realities of our time.

Group ISA showcases innovation

APPLYING innovation and entrepreneurship to the service of sustainability was one of the objectives that the ISA Group had set for itself in its 2030 strategy. This fine example would represent Colombia at Expo Dubai 2020. On this stage, the company presented its cutting-edge initiatives in sustainable development.

In line with its commitment to protect the planet, and as an example for other companies, the company, in alliance with Ecopetrol, offset the carbon footprint of the entire Colombia Pavilion during the week of October 3-9, in order to become Net Zero Carbon. This was registered through EcoRegistry, the carbon market platform based on blockchain technology developed by XM, an affiliate of Grupo ISA in Colombia.
