Carlton Group takes over Ramada Chelsea

CARLTON Hotels & Suites continue on the road to grow and expand with strategic acquisitions. Formerly Ramada Chelsea Al Barsha is now a part of Carlton Hotels’ portfolio.

Hosni Abdlehadi, CEO of Carlton Hotels and Suites, said that the property has been rebranded as Carlton Al Barsha Hotel and is a part of the strategic growth plan in increasing the footprint of Carlton Hotels & Suites in the region.

“Conveniently located near key attraction points and with easy connectivity to all parts of Dubai, Carlton Al Barsha becomes the fourth property to join the portfolio of our hotels. With the upcoming expo 2020, Dubai provides the perfect platform to launch new hotels and we look forward to continuing our expansion plan in the region.”

Carlton Al Barsha, a four-star deluxe hotel, will be offering comfortable accommodation in the Sky district of Dubai. The building features a sports bar, four restaurants, a swimming pool and a spa.

 

IHG debuts voco in South Africa

INTERCONTINENTAL Hotels Group (IHG) has signed voco The Bank, Rosebank in South Africa in partnership with Valor Hospitality Partners Africa. Last year, IHG announced the signing of a Master Development Agreement (MDA) with Valor Hospitality Partners Africa to roll out multiple franchise hotels over the next 10 years, across IHG’s portfolio of brands in midscale, upscale and luxury segments. This is the first signing under the MDA and adds to IHG’s growing pipeline in the Middle East and Africa whilst strengthens the growth of company’s new upscale brand, voco in the region.

The brand allows guests to enjoy an upscale experience with the freshness of a unique, independent hotel under a name they can trust. 25pc rise in Indian business travellers

OYO Hotels & Homes, UAE, has recorded a 18 per cent increase in business travellers from India as compared to January 2019 and expects this to touch 25 per cent by the end of first quarter 2020. This higher than expected traffic comprising of business travellers is due to the busy exhibitions and conferences industry in the UAE.  As Dubai is viewed as a world class hub, several Indian organisations are choosing the city as their ‘corporate events destination’, as it is less than 3 hours away from India.

“As per recent reports, Dubai’s tourism industry closed a successful decade by the end of 2019, welcoming an all-time high 16.73 million international overnight visitors. India was one of the 6 top source markets with close to 2 million travellers visiting Dubai. This further reinforces the fact Dubai is growing as a must-visit destination for Indian tourists,” mentioned Pranav Mehta, country head, OYO Hotels & Homes, UAE.
