Air India has decided to allow hajj pilgrims to transport Zamzam water back to India after it received serious flak on social media following its decision to ban the holy water onboard.

According to a tweet, the airline clarified that passengers returning from Saudi Arabia will be 'allowed to carry Zamzam cans within their permissible baggage allowance', and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
The airline has announced a special 5kg allowance for passengers carrying Zamzam water, apart from the 40kg baggage allowance on all commercial flights operating out of Saudia Arabia. This special allowance can’t be converted into baggage allowance, media reports said citing an airline spokesperson said.
