Hotel Calimala Milan is set to open its Milan outpost at Via Melzo 7, in the historic and vibrant Porta Venezia district.
The hotel offers 88 rooms, including four premium suites, offering an immersive experience that blends modern sophistication with an appreciation for Milan's storied culture.
The hotel also features a ground floor espresso bar and a two-story rooftop, featuring a bar and a swimming pool, as well as a restaurant that will launch in the spring of 2026.
Designed by acclaimed architect and designer Alex Meitlis, Hotel Calimala Milan represents a departure from the brand's original Florence property, embodying a fresh aesthetic inspired by the unique character of the city.
“We wanted Hotel Calimala Milan to feel like a natural extension of the city,” said Meitlis. “It’s modern, yet presents a classic and enduring aesthetic, bringing Milan’s elegance and energy to life with touches like floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies, and unique Italian materials.”
The hotel's design reflects a "Total Design Project," with furniture, lighting, and art custom-crafted for the property. Floors are crafted from locally-sourced black marble terrazzo, while interiors feature rich walnut wood, glass, and bursts of color. Meitlis describes the project as a "love letter to Milan," influenced by the city's heritage of fashion, art, and urban vibrancy.
The Milan property also holds personal significance for Meitlis, as it was designed with his late husband, Ivo Bisignano, an editor at Condé Nast Italia, in mind.
The Milan property gently reflects the essence of Ivo, a true Milanese, seamlessly blending timeless sophistication with personal sentiment and homage to the city's vibrant spirit.
The hotel's interior pays homage to the city's artistic heritage, with a unique focus on photography by Dafna Arnon, curated by artist Carmel Ilan.
Each guest room doubles as a curated art installation, with decor and lighting that feel distinctively Milanese, further enhanced by thoughtful details that honor the city's renowned craftsmanship.
The hotel's eateries offer a relaxed space for coffee, wines, and aperitivo bites, with direct access from the street.
FIVE, the hotel's restaurant, will open in Spring 2026, offering a Mediterranean-inspired menu crafted by Chef Moshiko Gamlali, featuring light portions and small plates, sections dedicated to crudo, pasta, and fish, all crafted to encourage communal dining and curated to speak to the hotel's ethos of quality.
Ascending the large spiral staircase to the sixth floor, the hotel is one of few in Milan to feature a rooftop swimming pool, offering breathtaking city views and a special poolside menu. -TradeArabia News Service
