Barceló Hotel Group announced that it will operate a 500-room, five-star resort hotel in the third quarter of 2021 on Al Marjan Island, the flagship waterfront destination by Marjan, the master-developer of freehold properties in Ras Al Khaimah.

The property represents the hotel group’s seventh venture in the UAE as it continues its global expansion. The new Ras Al Khaimah hotel will add to an existing selection of more than 1,600 hotel keys on Al Marjan Island.

This announcement comes months after the Spanish group announced the opening of the first Royal Hideaway Hotel by signing a management contract with Seven Tides for DUKES Dubai. The Palm property underwent a rebrand this February to become DUKES Dubai, a Royal Hideaway hotel.

At the same time in January, the group hosted the grand opening of the highly anticipated Occidental IMPZ Dubai Conference & Events Centre in Dubai.

As Spain’s second-largest hotel chain and the 29th largest hotel group in the world, Barceló Hotel Group manages 251 hotels across Europe and the Mediterranean basin, the US and Latin America and the Caribbean. Since its founding in Mallorca (Spain) in 1931, the group, through its hotel and travel division, has evolved from a family-owned transportation company to one of the most important tourism groups in Spain with a workforce of more than 30,000 employees.
