Grand Hotel Son Net, one of Mallorca’s top luxury rural hotels, was built in 1672 and first opened as one of the island’s top luxury rural hotels in 1998. It is a 31-room, five-star boutique property, which has focused on reviving the estate from planting vines, to replanting olive trees and introducing livestock in the last few years.
The exterior villa accommodation was constructed using traditional stone, wood and tiles, the handcrafted stucco walls throughout retain the feel of an authentic Mallorcan villa and traditional ‘Tela de Lenguas’ fabrics, which are hand-crafted on the island have been used in the public areas.
The hotel is located on top of a gently sloping tree-clad hill in the ancient village of Puigpunyent, set against the 90 km long, World heritage site, the Sierra Tramuntana Mountain range. The property is a short 25 minute-drive from the Palma airport. The hotel’s new tree house is a first for Mallorca’s luxury rural hotels and is designed around an existing ancient tree on the Son Net Estate in the front of the hotel’s main façade.
The Son Net Tree House offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a unique bird’s eye view of the Sierra Tramuntana Mountains and the views across the village of Puigpunyent and countryside below and is available for hire for private functions and meals as well as children’s parties.
