SIX SENSES Hotels Resorts Spas has announced nine new development concepts set to open over the next four years, including the addition of four Six Senses Spas and the brand’s broadening expansion into the lifestyle of wellness.
“The rapid brand expansion of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas ignited in Asia, Europe, South America, Northern Africa and the Caribbean allows us to redefine ourselves on a global scale with the addition of our first ski resort, first urban hotel and three amazing resort projects located at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) World Heritage Sites,” says chief executive officer Neil Jacobs.
Jacobs adds that within the Middle East the company is looking at opportunities in the Saadiyat Islands in Abu Dhabi. “We have a lot of confidence in what is happening in Abu Dhabi, particularly in the wellness-related platform because there is a big need in the Emirates. Looking beyond spa offerings, we want to offer an extensive programme including nutrition, lifestyle and weight management.”
In its Middle East arm, the group also has the Six Senses Zighy Bay in Musandam, Oman and the boutique-style Evason Ma’In in Jordan, as well as Six Senses Spas in Egypt at the InterContinental The Palace Port Ghalib Resort, in Doha, Qatar at the Sharq Village & Spa, Hotel Missoni Kuwait and the Etihad Airways Premium Lounge at Abu Dhabi Airport.
This June, the group will open the Six Senses Spa at the Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Muscat, Oman. Featuring Omani architecture, the spa will offer 20 treatment rooms, a majalis (relaxation area) and several falaj (water feature).
Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, will become the only resort located adjacent to the Unesco in the Chinese province of Sichuan and will feature 113 suites and villas, when it opens this year.
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas will make its European entry in 2015 with the 32-suite Six Senses Mount Blanc nestled in the French Alps atop the village of St Gervais.
Six Senses Bhutan with 82 guest rooms, Six Senses Wuma in Taiwan with 50 suites and villas as well as the Six Senses Freedom Bay in St Lucia, Caribbean, featuring 73 villas and pool suites will open in 2016.
Other projects include Six Senses Ninghai in China, featuring feature 129 villas perched on a hillside, the 120-suite Six Senses Uluwatu in Bali, the 100-room Six Senses Cartagena in Colombia and Six Senses Gammarth, in Tunisia featuring 67 suites and pool villas plus 31 residences.
On the wellness front, the Six Senses Spa at Esentai Tower was recently opened in Almaty, Kazakhstan we well as two mega projects in India – the Six Senses World One in Mumbai and Evason Pune Bellamondo.
