BAHRAIN’S former Banyan Tree Resort has been renamed Al Areen Palace and, under the guidance of a new general manager, has become the first property on the island to be signed up to the Leading Hotels of the World (LHW).
Rejuvenated from a short slump during its legal case with Banyan Tree, the hotel is now enticing guests with promises of enhanced services and a range of pleasant surprises and general manager, Khalid Anib is determined to position Al Areen Palace among the island’s top properties.
He said: “We are the only all-pool villa resort in the kingdom offering total privacy to our guests and residents in a luxurious and magnificent environment. I believe that the positive changes have only just begun, starting with our award of inclusion into ‘The Leading Hotels of the World’.
“We have laid out several plans for the resort and I feel confident that the local Bahrain market as well as our GCC supporters will continue to visit. I expect to see this increase over the coming months.

“My aim, with my team at the hotel, is to raise this property to become an icon within Bahrain and firmly establish the image of Al Areen Palace & Spa.”
And explaining that service has become a primary concern for staff at all levels, he said: “As we have now become part of LHW, we have to make sure that we consistently deliver, without compromise, the finest products and seamless service that hotels which are part of this luxury collection are expected to meet.”
The resort’s spa, which is renowned throughout the island and region, continues to be a market leader boasting the most extensive facility in the Middle East. A new spa manager has recently been appointed bringing experience from both Europe and the GCC and there are also plans to introduce luxury spa products and a number of therapists from Asia to develop the treatment range.
Other developments include the rebranding of one food and beverage outlet to intoduce a contemporary Moroccan restaurant complete with live entertainment, including a band and a belly dancer, which is expected to be open by the end of the year.
Plans are also being drawn up to create a pool party venue in the resort’s indoor infinity pool area. Anib said: “We are in the process of creating a unique venue for visitors to come and enjoy this space complete with suspended DJ booth, Perspex dance floor, projection screens and of course an exclusive VIP area.”
And a series of open-air concerts is scheduled for the near future including Nancy Ajram.
