The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) introduces an innovative new service for brides-to-be of the luxury hotel, whereby each bride is invited to work with French Pastry Chef, and talented craftsman, Guillaume Marchand, to create the wedding cake of their dreams.

Aptly titled ‘Crafted With Love’, the new service is in-line with The Ritz-Carlton’s philosophy of providing lasting memories for guests at every touch-point of their experience.

The service begins with a consultation with Marchand, where he and the bride discuss the wedding theme, preferred flavours, fillings, icing options, size, and importantly, the personalities of the bride and groom, to ensure every intricate detail is considered. Guillaume then puts his expertise in all-things sweet into practice to carefully craft a miniature version of the cake, which he presents to the bride as a gift, for her to check every aspect of the cake is to her liking.

Marchand comments; 'The cake is the focal point of many weddings, and I am passionate about bringing the bride’s vision to life, from the taste, to the texture, to the last icing curl on the top. A wedding cake should be an expression of the couple and their wedding, and by making a miniature model of the real thing.'

A full-size wedding cake can take Guillame up to three days to create, whilst the smaller versions take up to eight hours. His most frequently requested designs include floral detailing, which he makes with English fondant icing. Following the provision of the smaller cake, last-minute revisions and tweaks can be made, to ensure the full-size version is perfect in every way. The service is available to all brides-to-be who book their wedding reception in the spectacular Samaya Ballroom at The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC, or elsewhere in the hotel.

To highlight the craftsmanship of other ladies and gentlemen within the The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, the luxury service organization has created a series of videos entitled ‘The Art of The Craft’. In the new digital video series, the camera’s focus is on a particular lady or gentlemen representing a specific profession within the organisation. In the first four videos released from a series of ten, we meet a sommelier in California wine country, a culinary master, a housekeeper at the highest hotel in the world and a shoe-shiner in Istanbul. They share details of the role they play within The Ritz-Carlton and the opportunity they have to make a difference to a guest’s experience, beyond the expected.
