WTE Miami 2026 brought together more than 5,000 travel trade professionals from 54 countries and territories for two days of business development, networking and industry discussions at the Miami Beach Convention Centre on October 27–28, highlighting its growing role as a platform connecting the US travel trade with international tourism markets.
The event attracted
visitors from 43 US states, 22 Latin American and Caribbean countries and
territories, and six continents, reinforcing Miami's position as a meeting
point for regional and international travel businesses.
Travel agencies and
advisors accounted for 78% of visitors, while 41% held senior business
positions, including owners, founders, CEOs and presidents. The figures
reflected the event's focus on attracting industry decision-makers and buyers
seeking new commercial opportunities.
According to the
organisers, 75% of visitors attended to source new products and destinations,
while 73% were looking to establish relationships with new suppliers. Hotels
and resorts emerged as the most sought-after supplier category, attracting
interest from 77% of visitors, followed by tour operators at 70%, and tourism
boards and cruise lines at 66% each.
The exhibition
provided a platform for destinations, tourism boards, hotels, tour operators,
cruise companies and other travel suppliers to engage directly with travel
buyers, explore partnerships and develop business relationships.
WTE Miami also
welcomed more than 500 hosted and preferred buyers. Among hosted buyers, 79%
were final purchasing decision-makers, while 51% reported purchasing more than
US$1 million in travel annually, underlining the commercial potential of the
event.
Visitor interest

featured prominently, attracting interest from 58% of visitors.
Education and industry
knowledge formed another important part of the programme, with conference
sessions addressing developments shaping the future of travel and tourism.
Discussions covered artificial intelligence, travel technology, emerging
destination trends, experiential travel and strategies for building more
profitable travel businesses.
A total of 741
visitors attended the conference sessions, which provided practical insights
into changing consumer expectations, technology adoption and new commercial
opportunities for travel businesses.
The opening ceremony
and ribbon-cutting brought together senior public-sector and aviation
representatives, including Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami
Beach Mayor Steven Meiner, Miami International Airport Director and CEO Ralph
Cutié, PortMiami Director and CEO Jonathan Daniels, and Danielle Cohen Higgins,
Chairwoman of the Aviation and Seaport Committee of the Miami-Dade Board of
County Commissioners.
The Greater Miami
Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), which served as WTE Miami's global
partner, also supported the event. Miami International Airport was the official
host.
Javier Perez, Founder
of WTE Miami, said the 2026 edition had doubled attendance and generated
positive feedback from exhibitors, with several already expressing interest in
returning for the next edition.
“WTE Miami was a
tremendous success this year, doubling attendance and generating overwhelmingly
positive feedback from exhibitors, many of whom have already expressed interest
in returning next year. The quality of attendees, combined with the caliber of
speakers and the emphasis on education, emerging trends and the future of
travel and tourism, reinforced WTE’s position at the forefront of an evolving
industry. Our mission is to equip and inspire the travel advisor of the future
with the knowledge, experience and tools needed to thrive in a changing
landscape. We are also deeply grateful for the support of the key stakeholders
across MiamiDade County and Miami Beach, including the mayors, Miami
International Airport (MIA), our official host, and the Greater Miami
Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), our global partner. Their
collaboration was instrumental in bringing this year’s event to life and
delivering a successful experience for the travel industry.”
The strong
representation of US travel businesses, alongside international suppliers and
buyers, highlighted the event's role in facilitating connections between
destinations and the travel trade.
With substantial
participation from decision-makers and buyers seeking new products, WTE Miami
2026 demonstrated demand for platforms that combine commercial networking,
destination promotion and professional development.
The organisers said the attendance figures were based on badge scans across October 27–28 combined with registration data. The reported visitor numbers exclude exhibitor staff and media, meaning total show attendance was higher. -TradeArabia News Service
