Etihad Airways and Ghana-based Africa World Airlines (AWA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership covering codeshare and interline services, cargo operations and frequent flyer programmes.
Signed in Accra, the agreement will connect the two
carriers' networks, enabling passengers to book seamless journeys on a single
ticket between Etihad's global network of 118 destinations and AWA's routes
across Ghana and West Africa.
The partnership also aims to strengthen cargo links, giving
Ghanaian and West African exporters access to Etihad Cargo's international
network, while expanding loyalty benefits for customers of both airlines.
The agreement reflects growing trade, investment and travel
ties between Ghana and the UAE and supports Etihad's planned launch of direct
Abu Dhabi–Accra flights on March 24, 2027.
The MoU took effect on July 24, 2026, with cooperation to be
introduced in phases and combined ticket sales beginning once interline
services are operational.
