Malaysia has retained its position as the world's leading Muslim-friendly destination in the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2025, strengthening its appeal to GCC travellers seeking halal-friendly, family-oriented holidays.
The country continues
to attract visitors with its extensive halal dining options, readily available
prayer facilities, warm hospitality and well-developed tourism infrastructure.
To encourage visitors
to explore beyond its major cities, Malaysia is promoting a series of cultural
festivals and regional experiences.
In Sarawak, the Pesta
Nukenan (Bario Food Festival), taking place from July 24–26, will showcase
Kelabit cuisine, indigenous traditions and cultural performances amid the
scenic highlands of Malaysian Borneo.
Meanwhile, Penang's
George Town Festival, scheduled for August 2–10, will feature visual arts,
music, theatre and heritage events in the UNESCO-listed city.
In conjunction with
Citrawarna 2026, more than 40 hotels across the Klang Valley and selected
states are offering special accommodation packages and discounted rates for
bookings made between mid-July and mid-August.
The promotions aim to
encourage both domestic and international travel during the festival period.

rainforests and Penang's cultural attractions to Kuala Lumpur's family-friendly
experiences and tropical islands, Malaysia continues to position itself as a
year-round destination offering authentic cultural discovery, nature,
gastronomy and memorable travel experiences for GCC visitors.
