Emirates has unveiled the world’s first U-Dream Headrest for Economy Class passengers, introducing a new level of inflight comfort across its fleet.
Backed by a major investment, the adjustable headrest is
being installed on all Airbus A350 aircraft, most Airbus A380s, and will come
pre-installed on the airline’s future Boeing 777X fleet.
Developed with Safran Seats as part of the Z400 Economy
seat, the leather-padded headrest features foldable side wings, vertical
adjustment and tilt functions to provide personalised neck and head support
during rest or sleep.
Independently
certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the design aims
to deliver premium-style ergonomic comfort in Economy Class.
The U-Dream headrest is already available on three Emirates
A350s, with full A350 installation due by year-end.
Retrofitted A380s and Boeing 777s will begin receiving the
feature from 2027, while cabin crew are trained to assist passengers with its
use.
Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said:“Emirates never
rests on its laurels when it comes to customer experience and we have found a
way to significantly improve the comfort for Economy Class passengers,
especially those travelling long-haul. The U-Dream changes the game if the
person wants to sleep – by supporting the neck in full. No more neck pillows
needed. It’s another innovation that shows our commitment to customers and
cements our Economy Class as the best.” -TradeArabia News Service
