UAE wellness market to reach Dh44 billion by 2015

REGIONAL and international companies specialising in wellness and spa products and services, will be exhibiting at the Wellness and Spa Middle East Exhibition held from June 7 to 9, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“Personal wellness is starting to become a lifestyle trend as people seek relaxation and a respite from the pressures of daily life, and activities that cultivate physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing are becoming important to many people in deciding how to spend their leisure time,” said Elisabeth Brehl, managing director of Epoc Messe Frankfturt, the organisers of the exhibition.
According to research, Americans and Canadians have spent Dh41.10 billion and Dh4 billion on wellness and spas tourism respectively over the last two years. Wellness and anti ageing are a trillion dollar business globally.
The UAE has witnessed significant expansion in healthcare and wellness facilities. The total healthcare market in the UAE is estimated to touch Dh44 billion ($12 billion) by 2015. About Dh11 billion ($3 billion) of this accounts for the wellness products and services sectors.
Among those exhibiting in this year’s trade fair are Electro-Medical Ghareini GmbH from Germany with wellness beds, cosmetics and treatments; EA Herbs Sdn Bhd from Malaysia offering a wide range of spa products; Love In Style from Spain who will showcase their cosmetic line; TechnoGym Emirates LLC from the UAE will be displaying Professional Cardio Machines; and Iskra Medical from Slovenia, will be exhibiting their green line of products.
As in previous years, the Wellness & Spas Middle East exhibition will run concurrently with Beautyworld Middle East.
