Air Arabia has announced that it will be introducing a service to Kiev, Ukraine, in October this year. The launch of this new destination reflects Air Arabia's growing expansion into the Eastern European market. AK Nizar, Head of Commercial Department, Air Arabia said, 'Ukraine is one of the fastest growing economies in Eastern Europe, and there is considerable passenger traffic between the country and the Middle East, particularly for tourism and business.
We look forward to introducing non-stop service between Kiev and Sharjah in the coming months, and to offering our value-for-money services to everyone seeking friendly and efficient travel between these two dynamic regions.'
With a population approaching 3 million, Kiev is an important industrial, scientific, educational and cultural centre of Eastern Europe. One of the greenest cities in the region, it boasts a range of natural and architectural attractions. Kiev is the capital of Ukraine, which experienced record economic growth of more than 7.3 per cent last year alone.
In addition to Kiev, Air Arabia also serves Istanbul, Turkey, and Yerevan, Armenia, in Eastern Europe.
Recent launches were three additional flights per week to Amman, Jordan, and Beirut, Lebanon. These were in addition to its daily flight services to both destinations. Nizar said that Amman and Beirut represented two of their oldest and most popular destinations, and that during the summer season there was a need for additional flights on those routes.
“The popularity of flights to Amman and Beirut from the Gulf reflects the strong relationship between these cities and the Gulf region. We are proud to play a part in the growing ties between these two great capitals of the Levant, and the economies of the GCC,” he said.
Air Arabia, the first and largest low cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, is listed on the Dubai Financial Market. It commenced operations in October 2003 and currently operates a fleet of 15 new Airbus A320 aircraft, serving 41 destinations across the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Central Asia through its main hub in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Air Arabia also recently launched a new hub in Kathmandu in order to offer service to new destinations throughout South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East and the Far East. Air Arabia is modelled after leading American and European low cost airlines, and its business model is customised to accommodate local preferences. Its main focus is to make air travel more convenient through Internet bookings.
