The Guatemalan government has announced the appointment of José Bassila as the new Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy in the UAE, opening the heart of the Mayan world to new markets, promoting trade, attracting foreign direct investment and increasing tourism.
 
Prior to this, Bassila was a lawyer with experience in public management and international business.
 
Through its network of Commercial Counsellors, the Guatemalan government aims to boost the country's productivity through the export of Guatemalan products and attract new investments that will allow the generation of employment and economic reactivation, as well as position Guatemala as a great tourist destination in the Gulf region, especially targeting luxury travel, Mayan adventure, cultural experiences and even destination weddings and honeymoons. - TradeArabia News Service
