Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, participated in Dubai Tourism’s ‘Medyaf’ initiative to strengthen nationalisation in the tourism industry.

The latest ‘Medyaf’ initiative event was hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel on July 18 and generated a high level of attendance from local applicants. During the event, Dubai Culture received many applications from candidates seeking to enter cultural tour guide and customer service roles, among others. The authority’s participation reflects its commitment to nurturing and empowering national talent.

Dubai Culture launched a cultural tour guide programme and trained the first batch of employees in the initiative, who were drawn from across the Authority’s numerous heritage sites, including the recently unveiled Etihad Museum. The aim of the training programme was to enhance the performance and technical skills of Dubai Culture staff specialising in history, Islamic civilisation and tourism.

The ‘Medyaf’ initiative provides opportunities for UAE nationals to acquire appropriate training for improving their skills, supporting them in entering the tourism sector across fields including hospitality and retail. The project aims to build national talent in preparation for the 20 million guests that are expected to visit Dubai for Expo 2020.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors. - TradeArabia News Service
