The executive team at AlRayyan Hotel Doha

MEET the newly revealed team of AlRayyan Hotel Doha, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, the first Curio hotel in the Middle East. General manager, Luca Crocco, who was appointed during the hotel’s pre-opening phase in June 2015, leads a multicultural team working together in a property that breaths fashion, glamour and comfort in its 201 rooms and suites, five restaurants, three outdoor swimming pools, wellness areas, meeting rooms and Grand Ballroom.

The first member to join the executive team was Isabel Fernandez, who takes on the role of director of business development, bringing with her 11 years’ experience in the field, including two in pre-opening roles. Shaik Basha joined as executive chef. During his career, Shaik Basha has been part of five pre-opening teams, with AlRayyan Hotel Doha being the sixth time Basha sets up the kitchen department in a brand new hotel.

Ritz-Carlton Doha earns certifications

THE Ritz-Carlton, Doha received the coveted ISO 22000 and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) global certifications for complying with the highest level of food safety standards and regulatory and statutory requirements.

Obtaining ISO 22000 and HACCP certifications will continue to strengthen the hotel’s credibility and reputation, build customer satisfaction and trust, reduce operating costs and increase operational efficiency.

Crown Plaza achieves more

CROWNE Plaza Doha – The Business Park set its food safety benchmark by achieving the ISO 22000: 2005 certification, to the operations an international food safety management system provided by Bureau Veritas Qatar. Some of the f&b offerings that come under the remit of the certification are Aramede, all-day dining restaurant; Rodizio Brazilian Churascarria; Misturado Brazilian Lounge; Savor, café and lounge; and Liquidity, rooftop restaurant.

With the ISO certification, Crowne Plaza Doha customers are assured of top class standards across the service delivery chain. This means involvement of Kitchen, Food and Beverage Service, Procurement, Stewarding, Engineering, Housekeeping and Human Resources departments. The ISO 22000:2005 is an International food safety programme that ensures the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in commercial operations.

 

STR reveals interesting November data

ACCORDING to STR’s November statistics, among the countries in the Middle East and Africa, Saudi Arabia reported the most rooms in construction with 37,864 rooms in 83 hotels. United Arab Emirates followed with 26,889 rooms in 97 hotels. Two other countries each reported more than 5,000 rooms in construction: Qatar (8,748 rooms in 36 hotels) and Egypt (5,645 rooms in 16 hotels). Also for the month of November, Qatar reported a 1.2 per cent decline in occupancy to 69.1 per cent and a 6.8 per cent decrease in ADR to QR469.75 ($129), leading to an 8.0 per cent drop in RevPAR to QR324.38 ($90).
