What do the region’s visitors find attractive about Hong Kong, what do they like to do when they are there and do they use the island as a stopping-off point or as part of a two-destination holiday package?
Hong Kong is a major multi destination/two destination point and is known as ‘Asia’s World City’ with mainland China and the rest of Asia a few hours away. Hong Kong also is a major hub for people travelling to Australia. The main things that attract people are Hong Kong’s vibrancy and its fabulous shopping – it is known for its designer shopping at one end and the famous street markets at the other.  It also has fabulous food and restaurants, entertainment and night life as well as other attractions such Disney Hong Kong, Ocean Park and the surrounding islands offering relaxation.

Was there much interest in the destination from regional buyers at ATM?
Yes a great deal of interest and the region is growing in importance for Hong Kong to the extent that Cathay Pacific is now introducing, from June, four extra services per week from the UAE out of Abu Dhabi. The show was very successful and Hong Kong has now gained interest from new regional partners including airlines such as Jet Airways.

Are there any further promotional activities planned in this part of the world?
Yes there will be trade workshops, Hong Kong specialist education, familiarisation trips for both media and trade and other promotions.

Are there any upcoming events or festivals that you would particularly like to mention?
The Hong Kong Summer Spectacular (HKSS) focusing on the shopping; dragon boat carnival; beverage festival and the Lan Kwai Fong festival in this very popular evening and night spot district offering great entertainment, fine food and many special offers. The HKSS will run from June 17 to August 31 and people can soak up all the many different festivals and special offers on shopping, dining, entrance fees and attractions.
