Holland America Line sails grand voyages

HOLLAND America Line Cruises stands among the leading brands in cruise travel.

Its ‘Signature of Excellence’ motto forms a pillar of strength reflecting the spacious and elegant ships, award-winning service, worldwide itineraries, wide range of onboard cultural enrichment activities and five-star dining offerings.

From October until early next year the company will be offering grand voyages which touch all seven continents. The M/S Nieuw Amsterdam, the newest signature-class ship, and M/S Prinsendam will each sail two itineraries. The M/S Nieuw Amsterdam sails a 70-day Grand Asia and Australia Voyage in autumn 2011 before returning to world cruising in January 2012 with a 112-day Grand World Voyage which visits the South Pacific, New Zealand, Australia and the Mediterranean.

Following its 68-day Grand South America and Antarctica Voyage which departs from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on January 4, M/S Prinsendam will set sail in March 2012 for a 62-day journey taking in the Mediterranean, the Holy Lands and Black Sea.

The Grand Voyages feature various Unesco World Heritage Sites, first-time calls at new destinations and extended time in port with late departures, overnights and overland tours. Onboard, activities have been enhanced with local cultural entertainment and special guest headliners and lecturers. The Grand Voyage dining offers a different experience every day, featuring local ingredients and regional cuisine and wines and service is world renowned with a ratio of nearly one crew member for every two guests.

Reservations for the Grand Voyages for 2012 are now open and early-booking bonus promotions include prepaid hotel service charges, shipboard credits, luggage delivery services and a complimentary shore excursion or event for selected stateroom categories.

Holland America Line’s fleet of 15 ships offers more than 500 cruises to 350 ports in 100-plus countries, territories or dependencies. From two- to 110-day itineraries, covering seven continents, the cruise line visits Antarctica, South America, Australia and New Zealand with Asia voyages the Grand World Voyage and port calls in the Caribbean, Bermuda, Alaska, Mexico, Canada/New England, Europe, the Mediterranean and the Panama Canal.

Two signature-class ships, Nieuw Amsterdam and Eurodam will sail European itineraries during the 2011 season. The Nieuw Amsterdam will cruise on popular Mediterranean sailings including more round-trip and seven-day itineraries and the popular 12-day Mediterranean Romance, 12-day Tapestry and 12-day Empires itineraries as well as two seven-day Mediterranean cruises mid-season.

The MS Eurodam, the line’s first signature-class ship, will begin the European season with two seven-day Mediterranean sailings before continuing a series of North European itineraries. For those short on time, 16 seven-day sailings are available exploring the Mediterranean, Norwegian Fjords or the Baltic.
