In its continuous effort to play an active role in key environmental and sustainable drives, Radisson Hotel Group has partnered with Dubai Can, with the aim of launching drinking water stations across the city. The initiative founded by the Crown Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, was implemented to reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles across Dubai. The partnership between Radisson Hotel Group and the Dubai Can Initiative will see the installation of a free drinking water station at Sports City.

Studies have shown that every UAE resident uses up to 450 plastic water bottles on average per year, resulting in a yearly consumption of over four billion plastic bottles in the UAE alone. In addition to this, The Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment, and Security indicate that for every 100,000 one-litre plastic bottles eliminated eliminate, 5,844 KG of plastic waste, 104 barrels of oil, and 17,532 KG of Co2 emissions are conserved.

Dubai Can is a city-wide initiative that motivates individuals, organisations, residents, and tourists to turn to reusable drinking bottles, through the multiple free drinking water fountains across the city. The installation of the water fountain at Sports City is only the beginning of the valuable participation of the Radisson Hotel Group in the Dubai Can initiative.

At the recently culminated COP27 in Egypt, Radisson Hotel Group reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by signing the Glasgow Declaration and encouraging other hospitality groups to join the call for strong actions to halve emissions over the next decade and reach Net Zero emissions as soon as possible before 2050.
