Although the property opened on May 14, 2022, the official inauguration was held in September with media and partners from 20 countries when tennis and golf pros showed their skills of precision with an amazing display along with Chef De Village (General Manager) Pierre Jean Montagné.

Speaking at a press conference at the inauguration, Henri Giscard d’ Estaing, Club Med President and CEO, said: “We are basing the development of Club Med on four strategic pillars. The first pillar is to upscale, while keeping the Club Med Spirit and I am pleased to say that today 95 per cent of our resorts are either upscale of very upscale. The second is local, which combines a global approach that will also have a local approach in order to make sure we can coup with the desire and specificities es of each market and country. The third is happy digital to bring human power to another stage with the support of digital and fourth is happy to care. This is already part of our DNA, happy to care for our environment, the communities around us and make sure that happiness is not only for our clients.”

INSPIRED DESIGN

Club Med Magna Marbella was designed by Marc Hertrich from Studio MHNA. Set at the foot of Sierra Blanca, amongst 14 hectares of lush gardens, Hertrich’s designs are inspired by the region’s history, culture and nature.

The 485 rooms from Superior, Deluxe and Suites, are arranged in a single helix-shaped building, with an Andalusian style, vibrant colours, and a refined Arabian touch. The rooms offer views of the sea, the mountains or the city. Connecting rooms can be offered too for the convenience of families. All run under the watchful eye of the Chef De Village Pierre (who, by the way, is even on reception helping with check in).

I stayed in a Superior room, which is spacious, comfortable and with a beautiful view, but you don’t really stay in your room with so much on offer.

The resort includes five swimming areas: main pool, adults-only Zen pool, kids club pools, heated indoor-outdoor pool and an aqua park.

Club Med Magna Marbella offers year-round experiences for guests with their extensive list of activities for all ages and abilities. If you just want to try something new, for instance, try the new world craze padel tennis where your G.O. (Gentle Organisers) will take care of the guest. I only had time to go out with one of the G.O.’s one morning run, and although I consider myself fit, this was a challenge as a lot was uphill, (but remember, what goes up, must come down!)

FAMILY FUN

Club Med’s Kids Clubs for all ages (baby Club, Petit Club, Mini Club e Junior Club) from 4 months to 17 years old (there is a supplement for 4 months to 3 years old) allows the parents to enjoy their holiday. Of course, you can also try some activities together with Club Med’s Amazing Family programme.  There is a space in the resort dedicated especially for families too – The Family Fun Zone where you’ll find a playground, a water park with slides, water games, mini golf and a zipline as well as other actives for all ages from discover the art of Andalusian music, flamenco, or painting, as well as a multitude of sports under the vigilant eye of our dedicated G.O. team. A baby corner is also available in the restaurant along with services for their needs and meals.

Club Med’s kids programmes are not only fun, but they provide fun educational value and promote environmental education.

For those of us whose kids have grown up, or a young couple or a group of friends  wanting a more chilled ‘Zen’ atmosphere, Club Med The Zen Oasis, only open to adults, is immersed in the sounds of nature. It is a place to relax by the pool and sip a freshly made juice at the Sierra Blanca bar. (I can attest, the juices are delicious.) The Zen Pool is located high above the resort provided a view that I felt added to that  Zen feel.

The Club Med Spa by Cinq Mondes, with indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxation and a Turkish bath, offers an number of treatment offers in their 14 cabins.

F&B OFFERINGS

Part of the all-inclusive offering, Suenos, the main restaurant, serves international cuisine and local specialties as well as a baby corner dedicated to children’s meals. Tierra Gourmet Lounge is the specialty restaurant with live music, a wine cellar, and a boutique with local products. It is also ideal for a late morning breakfast, dinner served at the table, or a tasting. Dinner must be booked 24 hours in advance, but breakfast and lunch is at your leisure.

Three bars are available to guests: Rouge Bar is the main one, the Zen pool bar where you can enjoy fresh juices and the Tierra Gourmet Lounge bar where you can enjoy signature cocktails.

MICE

With 15 meeting rooms, the largest taking up to 800 pax’s, and with all of the above, Club Med Magna Marbella makes for a good meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (Mice) venue.

For golfers (or those of us who try) Marbella is famous with is perfect year-round climate with over 12 golf clubs and courses for all levels around the area, you are spoilt for choice. At Club Med Magna, there is a driving range, golf concierge at the reception and lockers for equipment. Group lessons are included from eight years old. There is also a mini-golf course. Of course, a round at golf at any of the courses would be at the golf clubs rates but can be booked with the help of the golf concierge.
