Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto is located opposite the Nijo-jo Castle in Kyoto

Located in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto is scheduled to open in summer this year. This signature luxury hotel will be managed by Mitsui Fudosan Resort Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Fudosan.

General manager Manabu Kusui comments; “Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto will represent the true essence of Japan, the world-renowned city of beauty, culture and heritage. Since ancient times, the Japanese people have shared an emotional connection with the unparalleled beauty of nature and the four seasons. The harmony between the natural environment, scenery and history is a story we can all relate to and is key to the ultimate hotel experience. This is expressed in our brand concept – Embracing Japan’s Beauty.”

Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto has been developed by an award-winning team of specialist masters in their own fields: Andre Fu for the interiors, Shunsaku Miyagi for the landscaping and Yohei Akao for the restaurant and spa. The entire team has been led by Akira Kuryu, master design advisor, recognised for his pursuit of architectural designs that blend with the surrounding environment. Traditional Japanese culture and the history of the Mitsui family are combined with modern design to create a space where antiquity and innovation meet.

The 160-key hotel features a natural hot spring located on property, a communal Thermal Onsen Spring bath, two additional private natural Onsen spring baths, four treatment rooms and two restaurants. A 1,300 sqm garden is located at the heart of the property.

Combining the storied past of the old capital with modern elements, the property features 160 guest rooms and a Presidential Suite. Each room is a contemporary reimagining of the traditional Japanese tea-room fashioned from meticulously selected natural materials and fitted using time-honoured techniques.

Quintessentially Japanese with a strong link to the past, Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto is positioned to draw international leisure and corporate travellers. Target regions include America, Asia Pacific and Europe. Kusui adds: “We have worked to produce a hospitality brand and property to appeal to an international luxury clientele. We have brought together a team who have a wealth of experience in the sector working with notable high-end international brands.”
