Diamond Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi

Diners with a taste for the finer things in life are invited to enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi and have a chance to take home a diamond.

As part of its popular ‘Dessert in the Desert’ afternoon tea concept, the hotel has teamed up with its resident jewellery boutique, Diamond Gallery, for a special promotion to give away the precious gem to one lucky guest. The competition, which will run for three months, is open to all diners who book the afternoon tea.

Once the treats have been served, guests will be asked to choose between Diamond Gallery boxes displayed in the hotel lobby. Three of the boxes contain real diamonds, while the others contain zirconium. Those who choose correctly could round off a wonderful afternoon of delicious bites with a gem of a prize.

The experts at the Diamond Gallery boutique will then verify if the box chosen from among 100 others contains a diamond or zirconium. The grand prize is worth Dh5,000, while the two smaller gems are worth Dh2,000. Guests who participate in the raffle and do not win a diamond will not go home empty-handed. Vouchers worth Dh250 will be given to the first 500 participants.

The ‘Dessert in the Desert’ afternoon tea menu created by executive chef and his culinary team features an extensive selection of scones, savoury bites and pastries infused with local ingredients. Chocolate, golden raisin and plain scones are served with a side of clotted cream, strawberry jam and whipped medjool date butter.

For those who prefer savoury treats, there is a selection of delicious snacks like Sumac-Spiced Grilled Chicken Brochette, Turkey Ham and Arabian Cheese Wrap, Gulf Prawn Cocktail and Crispy Pita Crouton with Hummus.

No afternoon tea is complete without a wide range of pastries and Chef Reiner has made sure that guests will be spoilt for choice.

Available daily from 2:30 until 6 p.m. at Lobby Lounge, the ‘Dessert in the Desert’ is served as a set for two persons.

The afternoon tea experience follows the launch of WonderBrunch, a Friday brunch concept that caters to families. Every Friday, Sofra BLD creates a wonderland of fun activities for children, while the adults can enjoy the signature brunch buffet with cuisines from all around the world.

With the all-new WonderBrunch concept, guests can focus on having a great time at the award-winning restaurant sampling traditional dishes from the food stations dedicated to different regions, while a dedicated team keeps the little ones entertained with a wide range of games, art and crafts sessions and a petting zoo.

To make sure the children also enjoy the food selection, the WonderBrunch will also feature a special kids’ buffet.
