Cook Children’s Health Care System, a not-for-profit paediatric health care organisation based in Fort Worth, Texas, celebrated its 100th year in March. As part of the celebrations, Cook Children’s has expanded its already extensive International Patient Programme by offering children in the Middle East private and specialised orthopaedic treatments of elevated care, in addition to the other areas of excellence already offered in neurology, endocrinology, haematology/oncology, cardiology, genetics and urology.

Executive director international patient services, Cynthia Gonzalez at Cook Children’s Health Care System, says: “With the addition of the orthopaedic treatments to an already extensive International Patient Programme, we are excited to directly promote these services to children in need in the Middle East, thereby expanding on our promise – to improve the health of every child, through the prevention and treatment of illness, disease and injury.”

A cornerstone of Cook Children’s excellence is its recognition and ranking by US News and World Reports, among others, for neurology, endocrinology, haematology/oncology, orthopaedics and cardiology. Cook Children’s nurses rank in the top echelon of their field in the United States and Cook Children’s also employs some of the best genetics and urology practitioners in the US.

Says Gonzalez: “Our physicians are present with break-through therapies and technologies, while our dedicated support providers handle all details bringing everyone together to turn actionable insight into measurable impact for the one who matters most—the child.”

Gonzalez continues: “Our dedicated team is multi-lingual, including Arabic, spiritually and culturally aware, and is committed to elevating and privatising the patient—family experience. Our team is comprised of amazing, award winning talent who truly love children, what they do, and have dedicated themselves to paediatric preventative and curative health.”

2017 was a year of many milestones for Cook Children’s including: the opening of its new South Tower which includes a new cardiology floor that houses 3D viewing and printing capabilities using MRI and CT scans to make models of patient’s heart for pre-surgical planning; a new neurosurgery wing with brand new $9.3 million 3.0 Tesla MRI, for providing highly accurate, real-time digital images of the brain; a new behavioural health department; new emergency department; and new lab.

2017 also saw the opening of a state-of-the-art paediatric urology centre led by a world-renowned team of medical professionals, that use a new robotic surgical system known as the Da Vinci XI. This technology offers minimally invasive surgery that reduces pain, risk of complications and hastens recovery time for patients.
