Steigenberger ... making its advent in Dubai

Steigenberger  Hotel Business Bay Dubai is using the ATM as a platform to announce its official opening as the first Steigenberger hotel in the GCC.

'We are promoting the fantastic F&B and spa amenities the hotel is bringing to the Business Bay neighbourhood and demonstrating the versatility of this cosmopolitan hotel with a German touch,' says Burcu Betoner, director of sales and marketing, Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, Dubai.

'Steigenberger is appreciated by business travellers, who can take advantage of our prime location and choice of four meeting room options and a boardroom and leisure travellers looking for a comfortable contemporary stay and facilities in the heart of Dubai. We pride ourselves on our exceptional efficiency and value for money in all that we offer,' she says.

The 20-storey, 365-room hotel is equipped with the latest technology and a modern, stylish design implementing German precision and efficiency. There are eight room categories to choose from, each offering breath-taking views of the Dubai skyline.

The Steigenberger has four food and beverage venues operating currently, including the 170-seat Bayside restaurant and terrace with clear views across the lagoon and down to the canal. There are also Swim & Tonic, a chill out pool bar with panoramic views of Dubai’s skyline and Burj Khalifa; Das Café, a postmodern café serving delightful afternoon tea and an eclectic executive lounge – open for all executive room and suite guests.

The Steigenberger will also soon welcome two new dining assets ready to take Dubai by storm. Firstly, there will be a unique dine-in and take-away bakery called Brothaus, a casual dining restaurant that showcases traditional German freshly-baked bread and tempting sharing platters for groups of friends. Steigenberger will also be launching Paulaner Biergarten, serving the very best Paulaner hops, paired with live entertainment and a vibrant atmosphere.

The company which worked on the interior design of the hotel is LW Design Group. The elegant design reflected throughout the hotel is inspired by the first cherry tree that blossomed in the Himalayas, she explains.

The high ceilings and vast glazing panels at the front and rear of the hotel allow for maximum light to flood through the building.

Refined details and a palette of rich materials combine to create a modern elegant design infused with an Asian feel. Ostrich leather wall panels, illuminated Onyx, rose gold metals and plush fabrics add a real feel of luxury to the space.

Stone flooring and carpet designs feature a mix of over-scaled geometric patterns with Far Eastern inspired florals. Custom designed specialist lighting adds an element of glitz to the hotel with the ballroom featuring a stunning 25 -m-long undulating crystal chandelier. The result is a sophisticated refined hotel with a comfortable residential feel.

With its beautifully and modernly decorated ballroom and four meeting rooms, the Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay offers a perfect Mice destination, she says. It has a dedicated floor for meetings including the Berlin ballroom, a daylight ballroom for up to 450 people, four meeting rooms and one boardroom, a business reception area, a library and outdoor terrace ideal for coffee breaks.

The hotel’s chief source markets are Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the GCC, Europe (equally distributed between Germany, UK, Italy and France) and China, she says.

Betoner says the Steigenberger Hotel Group’s expansion plans for the Middle East are managed from the full-fledged regional office in Dubai. The focus countries are UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iran.

The hotel’s three brands which are well defined and positioned are – Steigenberger, Jaz in the City and InterCityHotels.

'We offer a nice range from mid-market to lifestyle into luxury hotel brands for the Middle East and believe with the Steigenberger vision ‘Hotelier with Passion’ and our cosmopolitan German quality, we will succeed in implementing these great brands,' she says.

Steigenberger will also be attending key exhibitions, including ITB Berlin, Imex Frankfurt, ILTM Cannes, just to name a few.

On special offers, she says: 'We have some special room offers available, for example, the ‘winter offer’ gives an impressive 20 per cent discount off all rooms booked during the winter season. Throughout the year, we offer special rates and benefits are extended to our corporate clients, including special offers in our delicious dining venues and The Steigenberger Spa, with its impressive array of luxurious treatments.

On the market conditions, she says, the hospitality market in Dubai is extremely competitive. There are new luxury hotels and restaurants opening in Dubai almost weekly, which makes competition a challenge. Year 2016 will be a tough one for the hospitality industry, but that is why it is vital to be forward thinking.
