Bang ... product innovation

roomsXML, an online accommodation system that’s a single online access point to over 78,000 3, 4 and 5 star hotels from multiple suppliers, is working out new marketing strategies, which are being unveiled at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM).

Product innovations are a continuous happening at roomsXML, says Prakash Bang, managing director, roomsXML Solutions Limited, which is exhibiting at the ATM for the fifth consecutive year.

'The ATM helps us in two ways. One, network with our existing customers based in the Middle East and two, generate new leads,' he says. 'For us growth should be sustainable. We are not in a hurry to muster top line. To be able to support travel agents and our vendors, it’s essential that the business is profitable… allowing investments in product development and service standards.'

He says business was 'very encouraging' last year. 'We are seeing a year-on-year of 55 per cent consequently.'

The company has added inventories in fast selling and popular destinations. 'Thanks to our volumes in these destination markets, the pricing is sharp. Should delight our customers,' he says.

On the current market conditions he says: 'We have been around for only a few years. The growth has been steady. Despite what the market feels, we are happy. Appreciating dollars may make an impact in times to come… but that would help Americans travel!'

As for the strategy to cope with the tough conditions, he says product differentiation, high standards of pre and post-sales support to travel agents will do the trick for the company.
