Centra Maris Resort Jomtien in Thailand, scheduled to open mid-December this year

Thailand's leading hotel chain Centara Hotels & Resorts continues to explore opportunities for growth in strategic new markets, with projects that are scheduled to open this year and the next.

FOCUS ON OMAN

Centara will be opening its first ventures in the Middle East in 2016, with Centara Grand West Bay Hotel Doha in Qatar and Centara Muscat Hotel in Oman. Also in the pipeline are properties in Turkey, Laos and China, further developments in Thailand, Maldives and Vietnam.

The four-star Centara Muscat Hotel, located in the future Muscat Business District, will be opening in the first quarter of 2016. The property will have 152 rooms and offer several dining options.

As the Centara portfolio has developed and grown over the past six years, countries in the Gulf and wider Middle East regions have been identified as strategic regions of growth – Oman, and initially Muscat, being an important addition.

Centara intends to expand the brand’s presence throughout the Middle East region, especially under the five-star Centara Grand banner and the core, four-star Centara.

DOHA’S CENTARA GRAND

The five-star Centara Grand West Bay Hotel Doha will open in the newly developed district in the Qatari capital in 2016, with easy access to the corniche and to the airport.

Bailey … The Middle East offers an array of experiences

Chris Baily, chief operating officer comments, 'The Middle East offers an array of experiences from cultural and scenic to dining and beach holidays, and for this reason Centara is committed to expand its portfolio of brands and resorts here.'

Coming from Thailand, which is renowned for its culture of service, Centara intends to deliver quality experience for the leisure and business travellers alike. However, it is the latter who will avail of Centara’s services in a growing number of destinations.

OPENINGS THIS YEAR

In its home country Thailand, Centara will be opening Centra Maris Beach Resort on Jomtien Beach, along with Centara Avenue Hotel Pattaya. Centra Maris Resort Jomtien is scheduled to open mid-December 2015.

Just a short skip out of Bangkok, Jomtien Beach has a new perspective from that of its nearby neighbour, Pattaya. The area has benefited from major investment, adding attractive elements.

Internationally, the brand is also expanding with properties in Vietnam – Centara Beach Resort & Spa Phu Quoc. Scheduled to open this month, the resort is Centara’s second property on the Phu Quoc Island, third property in Vietnam, and is viewed as a desirable complement to Centara’s Vietnam portfolio.

Chris Bailey, chief operating officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts, says, 'The new resort is a highly desirable acquisition for us, as it has a different style and product focus than our other properties in the region, enabling us to expand our appeal to a wider cross-section of the market.'

These two properties – Centara Beach Resort & Spa Phu Quoc, Vietnam and Centra Maris Resort Jomtien, Thailand – will round out Centara’s portfolio with 42 properties in operation around the globe.

Thirayuth Chirathivat, the CEO of Centara Hotels & Resorts, says he is, 'proud to be overseeing the ongoing expansion of the Centara brand. We anticipate great things of tourism in Vietnam in the years to come and continue to see the strength in the tourism industry in Thailand.'

KEY MARKETS

As the Centara property portfolio continues to grow, it is important that its hotels are represented in the key markets that drive their success.

Centara has recently added several regional sales offices in strategic regions – Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines – that allow for greater penetrate in more key markets. With 32 sales offices currently in operation, the brand plans to open two new offices a year until 2018, further developing a strong sales network.

Africa and some key cities in Europe are future markets that Centara is exploring, for growth opportunities.
